Installing AutomistTM

Automist comes with an installation manual that details the installation process. Installation requires an electrician with part P electrical certification. Power supply connection to the pump must be supplied by an independent circuit with no RCD protection (Grade E for fire alarm systems in Dwellings).

Automist is installed in a kitchen

Installation steps

  1. Retrofit the Automist emitter between the sink and the tap.

    Install your Emitter

  2. Place the pump under the sink and connect it to the water supply using the washing machine / dish washer outlet and a standard ¾” hose. Connect the high pressure hose from the assembled emitter to the outlet on the pump.

  3. Installing the control unit and connecting power to the pump. The mains supply to the Automist pump and control unit should be a single dedicated 6 Amp spur on an independent circuit from the dwelling’s main distribution board (Grade E for fire alarm systems in Dwellings). This will ensure the pump still runs if an electrical appliance causes the fire and trips the circuit.

  4. Connect the heat alarm or alarm system to the control unit.

  5. Commission the system.  To make sure that Automist has been correctly installed and will work properly, Automist is programmed to run a test procedure where the pump is activated for 20 seconds and the output pressure monitored.  To avoid spraying the kitchen, Automist comes with a simple rubber cover that directs spray into the sink.  The control unit will indicate if the system is ok and you can then visually verify that all caps have opened correctly. Once the caps are repositioned on the cover, Automist will be ready to remain in standby and to be activated in case of a fire.
